jamie rubin master of disaster

Jamie Rubin should learn to shut up. He stated Kerry's position on AUMF  that Kerry would have voted the way he did  'knowing what we know now" in 2004. Now he is providing truncated quotes about McCain's position on Hamas. the only problem is that he got Obama to repeat that and now the whole story turns up. A good way to discredit the presumptive nominee!

James Rubin did Obama a favor.

The full version is only nuanced more but the general point is the same.  We must deal with Hamas.

I saw both.

Re: Forgive me (2.00 / 1)

He is a former Clinton appointee who talks before he thinks. It matters because he was in the state department. During a critical time in the run upto 2004 GE he went out and gave a statement to the press on behalf of Kerry that "kerry would have voted for AUMF even knowing what he knew then" He works for the  press was on wide angle for PBS and for BBC.

Re: jamie rubin master of disaster (none / 0)

I find it amusing that Clinton supporters are rooting for McCain to win this scuffle. It's hard to see how Rubin's clip is helpful to McCain in any way. In fact, it helps defang the argument that Obama is soft on Hamas, because every time he brings it up now Obama can point to the video. Obama won vs. Bush/ McCain this week - deal with it!:D

correction- "a small number of Clinton supporters are rooting for McCain"

I will certainly be supporting the Democratic candidate, whether it be Hillary or Obama. There are lots of other Clinton supporters on this blog who will agree with me.

astrotuff - fake concern (none / 0)

check out this person's prior diaries.

aside from not using paragraph breaks, he clearly dislikes barack - discrediting his so call concern over Jamie Rubin.

nice try.

Re: astrotuff - fake concern (2.00 / 1)

Is there any validity here?  I mean, I know McCain was trying to weasel out of the Rubin clip, but does he have any sort of point?

Re: not that I've came across (none / 0)

It's all good.  Maybe I should have just ignored this diary, but the reference to a truncated quote made me nervous because I wouldn't want to get hosed if I ever found myself debating this.

One thing is, I think the 2006 version of McCain was actually right about this.  But that's all the more reason he shouldn't be resorting to cheap demagoguery now.

Re: jamie rubin master of disaster (none / 0)

The issue is McCain gave a properly nuanced answer back in 2006 and then tried to portray an absolute position in 2008.  At the same time he was trying to move away from his nuanced answer, he was trying to  paint Obama in to an inaccurate negative absolute.

It got called for the hypocrisy it was.
